The Faith Of Barack Obama : Review

14 Aug 2008 In: Life

The Faith Of Barack Obama

I’ve recently finished the book “The Faith of Barack Obama”.  This book is very intriguing and bothersome at the same time.  I love the fact that this book isn’t written for Liberals, for Democrats or Republicans.  The honesty and stories from this book quickly relay that this book isn’t here to “convince or change” your political views.  It simply addresses one question… what is the faith of Barack Obama?

The book answers the question for almost everyone it seems. Which brings me to a saying that my dad told me: “If everybody likes you, then you’re lying to somebody”.  It’s hard to call Obama a Christian and still understand his views on abortion and homosexual rights.  The interesting thing is that those aren’t in question in every Christian “religion”.  So who’s right?  Good question.

I don’t want to use this post as a persuasion either way.  Some of my readers will say that I have an opportunity to “lead” and should do so.  I disagree.  I will tell you my thoughts on his book… please know these are just that.

Barack Obama is the new face of young America.  Why?  The current generational beliefs are that we need to be good to one another.  We need to respect each other.  We need to take time to listen and more importantly understand others.  This generation is tired of the bait and switch routine that goes on every 4 or 8 years.  We want change.  We want transparency and honesty from the leaders we choose.  Granted we can get there with a Democrat or a Republican, I just believe that Obama has tapped into that cry in  a much more transparent way.

There is a hunger and a thirst for truth.  A hunger and thirst for change.  A hunger and thirst for hope.  I believe that Obama has hit a nerve with many in the US because of the struggles he has dealt with.  His upbringing introduced him to multiple religions and the lack of with his self-proclaimed atheist mother.  His struggles reflect that of many young Americans.  Questions like “Where do I belong”, “Why am I here”, “What’s my purpose” have come into most of our minds, many times.  The questions aren’t always voiced because we like to think we can handle those things inside…  Barack has brought those questions to the forefront with who he is and how he has become who he is.

Love him or hate him, his Faith has defined a man who truly believes he can offer change and hope.  He pushes for grace and truth in a political machine that offers lies and sabotage.  Please note this isn’t a slam on “W”, I’m talking about the big picture “political machine” from the top to the local government.

Barack Hussein Obama could possibly be the next president of the USA, his convictions and beliefs should be important to all- whether to question or understand I encourage anyone to read this book to better understand his views, theology and vision.

Let’s Barter! *Updated!

9 Aug 2008 In: Life

I’m trying my hand at bartering. I’ve traded stuff before but not like this. The best trade I’ve ever made was a ball python snake for an electric guitar amp back in college. I got the amp of course.

This round I’m putting up a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 12′ john boat, as a combo. I’m listing in the barter section of Craigslist. The listing is here–>

It just 7 hours of listing I’ve gotten a few inquiries- What to do??? I’ll keep a list below of what has been offered. Oh this is fun!!!

  • 1970 F-100 short bed with a newly rebuilt 475 engine
  • 5×10 enclosed Haulmark trailer
  • JetSki
  • 1979 Mercedes Benz
  • G4 Apple Laptop
  • What’s next???

Depending on what I end up taking, I may keep going! Who’s done this before?  Suggestions?

The Rise and Fall of Twitter

8 Aug 2008 In: Funny

First, I apologize for the few bits of language… but overall, if you are a Twitter user you will laugh out loud at this…  absolutely-insanely-funny.

In Short...

I've spent most of my life in music and marketing. I currently work as an interactive marketing manager. I launched an indie label in 2004 with one artist and 11 songs. We now distribute over 30 artists and 600+ songs worldwide. I write music tracks for multiple tv/movie/music catalogs. No I can't tell you which ones... it's like ghost writing. I want to score a movie one day, indie is fine. I love the beach. I love loud music. I love my wife. I love my daughter and baby boy.
