Since high school I’ve been a huge fan of Juliana Hatfield. Somewhere in the halls of R.B. Stall high school I was introduced to a song called “Star” by the Blake Babies. That’s it. That’s all I remember except falling in love with a voice that was pure, clean and real. I love the music, it came at a time when all I wanted to hear was the Pixies and the Lemonheads and now the Blake Babies were begging for some of my attention.
Truthfully, I didn’t stick with the Babies, but when I heard the track “Everybody Loves Me But You” I recognized that voice and then fell in love with Juliana Hatfield. Her debut album “Hey Babe” is pure pop genius with catchy guitar riffs and great vocal hooks… I still put it on and just get sucked in. Then I moved on to her second solo album “Become What You Are” and again she nailed me to a wall. Somewhere in this time, like most things, I moved on to whatever was new and popular- Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Screaming Trees had me sitting behind a guitar all the time trying to figure out flannel power.
All this to say, I ran across Juliana’s new album today and once again just got sucked in by her voice and melodies. It’s not top 40 and it hasn’t been ran through the rigors of Pro Tools for months… it’s just good, raw, pop and Juliana at her best.
Without further life long notes and boredom of my high school years… Here’s a great track off that album for you guys to download and fall in love with. It’s called “Shining On”. Enjoy.

Why not? I can’t do that bad, right?
Because we all need to laugh in the middle of the week. Here’s a little clip to get your funny fix. One of my all time faves from SNL….
I saw this a few months ago and recently saw it again… think about it.

I've spent most of my life in music and marketing. I currently work as an interactive marketing manager. I launched an indie label in 2004 with one artist and 11 songs. We now distribute over 30 artists and 600+ songs worldwide. I write music tracks for multiple tv/movie/music catalogs. No I can't tell you which ones... it's like ghost writing. I want to score a movie one day, indie is fine. I love the beach. I love loud music. I love my wife. I love my daughter and baby boy.
